The Legal Aid Department (LAD) reached its golden jubilee since its establishment in 1970. Since its inception, LAD has been continuously developing and expanding its services to meet the needs of society over the years, ensuring that those with reasonable grounds for pursuing or defending a legal action in Hong Kong will not be denied access to justice because of a lack of means. Legal aid is available to everyone irrespective of nationality, ethnicity or religious beliefs.

A series of three rich and diverse roving exhibitions was arranged to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the LAD, including informative panels and videos that showcase LAD’s historical development, scope of services as well as the operation of the various legal aid schemes. Interactive AR game booths and humanoid robot were also set up to interact with visitors so as to enhance their legal aid knowledge.

Among the three roving exhibitions, the first roving exhibition cum launching ceremony was held at the Exhibition Hall of Hong Kong City Hall from June 2 to 4, the second roving exhibition at Domain Mall from June 25 to 27 and the last at Ma On Shan Plaza from August 13 to 15.
