Adjustment to Personal Allowances

With effect from 1 March 2025, the amount of personal allowances to be deducted from income when computing an applicant's financial resources has been adjusted.

Legal Aid Virtual Assistant Chatbot – “Aidie”

The Legal Aid Department has launched a Legal Aid Virtual Assistant Chatbot “Aidie” to support legal aid pre-application general enquiries. The Chatbot is built with Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing technology to handle general enquiries on legal aid services in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese or English. Users may click on the Chatbot icon at the right bottom of every page of the Department’s website to commence the dialogue.

Staff are prohibited from receiving or demanding any money, gifts or other personal benefits

Members of the staff of the Department are prohibited from receiving or demanding presents of any kind whether in money, gifts or other personal benefits (except for official payments under the Legal Aid Ordinance) for any services rendered to you; otherwise, the relevant staff as well as the offeror may risk contravening the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. In case of any demand of such benefits from our staff members, you are requested to report the same immediately to our Departmental Secretary or to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
